Meanwhile, stablemate and fellow 20-year-old Matt Montague landed the vacant Northern Area title at 72.5 kilos light middleweight division, knocking out his Lincoln Opponent Tony Hewson in two rounds. In doing so he became the club’s 27th champion in its 25-year history. Holt, the former British and European champion and trainer was delighted with the performances. “I am so proud of my fighters” he said. “David came back from two defeats to notch a convincing win and Matt has had a 12-month lay off. “We were worried because both their opponents had good win records, but they both trained like they never have before. “Both were ready mentally and physically — what a high to finish the year on.” Anyone who wants more information about Holt’s gym should visit www.thaiboxing.co.uk or call 01204 395807.
