POLICE seized around 50 cannabis plants when they raided a suspected drugs den in Farnworth.

Officers swooped on a home in Watson Road yesterday morning following a tip off from the community.

They broke down the door and found 10 fully grown cannabis plants and 38 smaller plants in the attic and an upstairs bedroom.

They also found a bag containing 150 white pills, which police believe are a controlled drug.

The seized drugs will now be sent off for forensic analysis. A 46-year-old man was arrested at the house on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply and abstracting electricity. He was being questioned last night.

Sgt Mike Jennings, from the Bolton South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I would like to thank the public for providing us with information which has led to us being able to take these drugs off the streets of Bolton. I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their communities to contact their neighbourhood policing team.”

One neighbour said: “I have been complaining about this address for some time. The windows are always blacked out and there are always people coming and going. It was just a matter of time.”

Anyone with information about drugs in the Bolton South area can call the neighbourhood policing team on 0161 856 5608 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
