THE young Lions struggled in defence and gave their visitors far too much time and space to use the ball, which they did to devastating effect.

The Salford side racked up an early 10-point lead but the Lions hit back with a well-taken try by Scott Broderick, who weaved his way through a broken defence.

Chris Brownlow’s fine conversion from a wide angle left the home side just four points adrift at half time and still in with a shout of victory.

But a needlessly conceded penalty gave Folly a good field position and they made the most of the opportunity, crossing for a try then adding another to further extend their lead.

The Lions stayed in the game with Brownlow ducking under a swinging arm to stretch over for a try but this time his conversion attempt was agonisingly short.

Trailing 18-10 the Lions still had a glimmer of hope but Folly’s strong running produced two late tries for a comfortable but somewhat flattering winning margin.
