HOLDERS Atherton LR reached the final of the Goldline Trophy with a 2-1 victory over Prestwich Heys, a side two divisions below them, at Chorley last night.
Heys took the lead in the 29th minute through Sam Smith, but LR equalised two minutes later when Daniel Smith’s shot was steered home by John Stephenson.
The holders had several chances to score but substitute Brad Cooke grabbed the winner when he raced into the area and blasted home a left foot shot in the 62nd minute.
LR are in action again tonight when they host neighbours Daisy Hill in a Vodkat League Cup second round replay, kick off 7.45pm.
