DANNY Ward is looking to extend his loan stay with Swindon Town.

The 18-year-old striker has made two substitute appearances for the League One club, and hopes to remain at the County Ground beyond the end of the month.

“It’s a great place to be with a great set of lads,” said Ward, who has followed in the footsteps of Whites team-mate Temitope Obadeyi in joining the Robins on loan this season.

“I need to continue getting used to how they play but the lads have all helped me fit in and feel really welcome.”

Leeds-born Ward was used twice off the bench by Gary Megson earlier this season, making his professional debut in the 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland. But with first team chances restricted by the loan arrival of Ivan Klasnic, the youngster is hoping to prolong his stay in the South West in order to gain more first team experience.

“I just want to get more games under my belt and help us get some more wins,” he said after playing 40 minutes of Swindon’s 3-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

“Game time is what I came here looking for, so I was pleased to get on for a decent amount of time.

“I’m here for a month and am just taking it week by week at the moment, but I would like to stay here longer.

“It’s a great place to be and I’d love to stay for another couple of months.”
