HILTON Tameside now share second place in the Premier Division with Ramsbottom B following their 5-4 win at Wharton.

But, they are 17 points adrift of Ramsbottom A in top spot who have a match in hand.

Hilton’s victory featured three wins by Jake Shaw and one each by Phil Biggs and Jeff Craighill. Barry Elliott and Rob Wiley each won two for Wharton.

The Ramsbottom B team suffered a 5-4 defeat at St Catherine’s A, whose John Hilton was unbeaten and Pavel Orzechowski added two. Derek Yoeng won two and Khamal Hussein and Brian Clements one apiece for Rammy.

Little Lever A won 8-1 at Ramsbottom C with trebles by Ron Durose and Steve McNicholas, and a double from substitute Ian Lansdale. Graham Hoy won the Rammy set.

All three Radcliffe CC players Wayne Renton, Rob Hall, and Nigel Hallows scored two wins in their 6-3 win at Hilton A, whose Ron Pennington was unbeaten.

Top Division One team Heaton A beat their B team 7-2 with three wins by Matt Ward and two each by Steve Barber and Paul Ward. Barry Dobbins won the two for the B team St Catherine’s B in second spot, 11 points behind Heaton, came away with a 6-3 win at Ladybridge A. Stuart Wallis scored three Kristof Pinter two and Marc Townsend one for the winners, and Lee Davenport two and Alex Waring one for the losers.

Nomads A’s 7-2 win at Little Lever C included three wins by Dennis Collier, and two each for Derek Watmough and Clive Taylor. John Hutchinson won the two Little Lever sets Bottom team Meadow Bank were beaten 6-3 at Hilton B, whose Allan Tomlinson recorded his first treble of the season, Alan Cowley adding two and Ian Wheeldon one. Richard Hinchcliffe won two and Paul Whyatt one for Meadow Bank.

Dave Scowcroft was unbeaten for Heaton C who won 5-4 at Wingates, Adey Denson and Duncan Kay added one each. John Bradbury two wins, and Alan Bradbury and Atul Sheth one each for Wingates.

Nomads B moved to the top of Division Two after their 9-0 victory over Meadow Hill B, they are now four points ahead of Grubba Fans who scraped a 5-4 win against Hilton E.

For Nomads Brett Haslam, Gareth Palmer and Dave Holden all scored comfortable wins.

Marek Maraszkiewicz won three and Grzegorz Greda and Elens Tepelus one apiece for Grubba. For Hilton Tim Fields won two plus one apiece for Barry Walsh, and junior Jordon Brookes on his second division debut.

Bob Bent and Jimmy Hewitt trebled for Coburg who beat Hilton D 7-2, as did Mark Martin and Alan Lansdale for Little lever D who beat Hilton C by the same score.

Heaton F suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of their D team, Mick Dunn winning their solitary set. For the D team trebles for John Cartledge and John Scowcroft and a double for Alan Crompton.

Included in the 7-2 win by Farnworth TTC A over Heaton E was three wins by Rene Seidel and two each for Graham Clayborough and Kirit Chauhan, with Frank Green winning the two Heaton sets.

Division Three top team St Catherine’s D continued their unbeaten run with a 7-2 win at Walkden Meths, which puts their top spot in an invincible position.

The win featured trebles by Stuart McCaig and Ben Dudley plus one win from Debbie Wilson. Richard Whittleworth and Neil Unsworth won one each for Walkden.

Farnworth TTC B, are six points ahead of Hilton J at the top of Division Four after their 7-2 win at Heaton G. James Storey won three, and Sam Evans and Daniel Harris two each. Colin Roberts won the two Heaton sets.
