A HORSE had to be rescued by firefighters when its hoof became trapped in metal railings. Fire crews from Leigh were called at 2pm yesterday to help the horse, which had been grazing on a field behind Abbey Road in Lowton.
A vet sedated the horse and firefighters used cutting equipment to separate the railings and free its hoof.
The animal was able to walk about after being released.
