THEY may have looked like a fish out of water, but they certainly created a splash with young town centre shoppers on Saturday.
Street entertainers from the The Grand Theatre of Lemmings company mingled with shoppers in Victoria Square as they brought their distinctive art to Bolton.
Their performance was based on a 1950s photograph of fishermen and their catch.
Dressed as fishermen carrying two fish puppets, the performers surprised the shoppers.
Performer Mandy “Mad-dog” Medlicott said: “After seeing the photograph, I thought there had to be story in there.”
She added: “It’s fantastic doing this and meeting people as the same time it makes the arts more accessible.”
The entertainers have performed as far afield as Australia and Japan.
Melissa Johnson, aged 11, from Westhoughton, said: “They are really nice and it is nice to see acts like this in the town centre”.
The performance by The Grand Theatre of Lemmings company is the latest in a number of free shows being staged by Bolton Council to draw in shoppers to the town centre. The council is having acts on in Victoria Square through to June.
