TODAY, Looking Back celebrates St David’s Day with flowers.

A splendid display of daffodils was arranged by the young wives’ class at St Peter’s, Halliwell, in March 1953. Bulbs grown by the members were judged by Mr T Hollis.

Saint David's is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on March 1 each year. The date was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David on that day in 589, and has been celebrated by followers since then.
