TODAY, Looking Back celebrates St David’s Day with flowers.
A splendid display of daffodils was arranged by the young wives’ class at St Peter’s, Halliwell, in March 1953. Bulbs grown by the members were judged by Mr T Hollis.
Saint David's is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on March 1 each year. The date was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David on that day in 589, and has been celebrated by followers since then. The date was declared a day of celebration in Wales in the 18th century
