A FORMER Atherton man appeared in court yesterday to deny rape.
Phillip Swinney, formerly of Shalefield Gardens, pleaded not guilty to raping a woman on November 15 last year.
The 24-year-old will face a trial at Liverpool Crown Court on May 17.
Swinney, who now lives in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was released on bail and must not enter Manchester.
