A PAST pupil of the former Hayward School in Great Lever has been awarded for her academic achievements.

Raihazah Malek, who is in the first year of reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, has been given the Gold Award for Outstanding Achievements in A-levels at the Islam Channel ILM Day Awards. The awards, organised by the Islam Channel in association with Islamic Help charity and the Dawah Project, are designed to recognise young Muslim achievers.

Raihazah attended the former Hayward School which is now Essa Academy before moving on to Salford City College where she gained five A-grades in biology, chemistry, maths, further maths and physics.

She has been involved with a number of projects including The Analyst Competition organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry at Buckingham Palace. She also helps children in the community. Kensington MP Karen Buck presented the A-Level Gold Award.
