HAS anyone questioned the need for these double-length buses?

As a motorist, I have noticed that the new buses often cut corners very tight. They also tend to pull in, leaving the second half of the bus in the middle of the road, then pull out when people are overtaking the bus.

I can perfectly understand that the bus companies sometimes require a bigger bus due to public demand, but what is wrong with double-deckers?

I am also a keen cyclist and for various reasons - health, environmental and saving a few quid - choose to cycle to work. The bus problem is then amplified. Quite often you find that you end up leapfrogging buses as they stop to pick up passengers.

Normal length buses are hard enough to pass, let alone these new monsters. Surely the new buses should only be used if the route has a low bridge, not for a main route like Manchester Road?

Can anything be done to dissuade the bus companies from using their new toys?

Has anyone else had similar problems?
