BLACKPOOL Pleasure Beach's newest employee is on top of the world after landing one of the tourism industry's best jobs.

Simon Hicks has been appointed executive head of marketing at Britain's favourite attraction.

He celebrated his high-flying career move with a ride on Europe's tallest, fastest roller coaster, the Pepsi Max Big One.

Mr Hicks began his marketing career with renowned advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi in Manchester.

He went on to become the youngest ever marketing manager at Rolls-Royce and opened his own advertising agency - Hicks Advertising and Marketing.

At the Pleasure Beach he will be responsible for worldwide advertising, continuous public relations and the extensive sales departments.

Mr Hicks said of his new role: "It's a very exciting move and I am looking forward to the thrills and spills of working at one of the world's greatest theme parks."
