A GREEN-fingered Farnworth man is appealing for volunteers help build his third award-winning garden.

Andrew Walker has entered a wild and wonderful garden into this year's Tatton Show to help raise money for the Christie Hospital cancer hospital.

The landscape gardener, of Elterwater Road, is hoping to attract volunteers to help him build and create his garden.

Mr Walker won a silver award for Christies at last years show and a bronze two years ago.

He said: "The garden is inspired by the natural landscape and uses natural materials."

Last year, volunteers collected a record £13,000 in donations for the hospital.

Appeals director Toni Leden said: "We are absolutely delighted to be appearing at Tatton again.

"All we need now is some keen gardeners who might be able to help us bring our plans to life."

Christie's is looking to recruit two volunteers a day from July 4 to 8 and July 11 to 10 to help produce the garden.

Volunteers will need to be fit and will be able to make their own way to Tatton Park.

Christie's will also need help to dismantle the garden on July 25 and 26 after the show.
