WESTHOUGHTON Lions produced an excellent performance against one of the best teams in the country.
The Lions were only just trailing at half time, Aidan Mann (2), Chris Brownlow and Bradley Kelly scoring tries in an exciting contest. The St Helens team proved too powerful after the break but the Lions never gave up and some fine handling saw Aidan crash over for two more scores.
Awards this week - Jake Waring (player of the match), Declan Burke (best tackler), Scott Broderick (most improved) and Daniel Sumner (coaches' award).

The pace and power of Joshua Ingram saw the Lions home in a tight contest. The ever-reliable Osian Griffiths was top tackler (13) and also scored a try and a conversion, but Sean Smyth was close behind on the tackle count. Lions' other scorers were Jack McLeish (try) and Josh Yeldon (conversion).
