GEOFF Lutley is hoping his new Leigh RMI faces will make a big impression, starting with a much-needed victory over York City.
Since the Leigh RMI boss took the reins in November he has seen his side crash out of three cup competitions and earn just one point from nine Conference games.
Lutley expects the introduction of strikers Michael Reed and Ashley Scothern, midfielder Daniel Douglas-Pringle and defenders Ryan Clarke and Milton Turner will make a big difference.
He said: "I have brought in some young but talented lads that I hope can turn things around. They need to play together and gel but they showed enough against Northwich on Tuesday to convince me that I am on the right track. We lost the game as they finished stronger than us, but there were a lot of positives.
"Scothern did well on his debut and looks a good prospect, while Pringle had an exceptional game. I am trying to build for next season and can finish this one well eqipped. The signs are there and I don't think we are far off. We have not suffered any heavy deafeats recently. I am trying to bring in players on merit and strengthen my bench. When I first arrived the bench was so weak I could hardly bring anyone on.
"York have had a poor season as well and it is a great chance of us to get a win which would give the Club just the boost it needs."
Lutley will be without striker Gary Williams, who is sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury, while Gareth Stoker who needs an ankle operation, but he is boosted by the return of the versatile Karl Rose, who has recovered from a knee injury and Mark Drew, after he completed a four-match ban. He also hopes to secure the signing of full-back Lee Hoolickin from Penrith.
Leigh, who had to postpone their Conference game with Canvey Island on Saturday, February 5, because their opponents are in FA Trophy action, have brought forward a league game at Forest Green Rovers to that date.
