A NEW exhibition opens at Bolton Museum, Art Gallery and Aquarium on Friday based on Islamic geometric patterns.
In Carved Earth, artist Halima Cassell fuses her Asian background with her fascination for African pattened work and architectural geometry.
To achieve her unusual layered effects, she uses a heavy clay which allows her to work on a large scale and utilize a relatively thick surface.
Into this she carves deep and complex patterns.
It is the third of a series of six solo exhibitions by British South Asian artists at the Le Mans Crescent gallery.
The exhibition runs until March 12.
