THE Phoenix Youth Theatre is offering the opportunity for someone to become the next Stephen Spielberg!

As part of its New Year strategy the youth group plans to offer a crash course in film and television making.

Anybody between 11 and 25 can join the short course and learn how to make short films or sketches. The course will cover everything from writing, storyboarding, acting and filming, all on digital video cameras.

They will have the opportunity to collaborate with each other and maybe even discover a partnership to rival that of Peter Kay and Dave Spikey the brains behind the hugely successful TV series Phoenix Nights.

Not only will the participants be able to create sketches, but they can also act in and direct short films are also a possibility. People on the course will be able to take their completed films home and they will also be shown in a mini film festival showcasing all of Boltons best film making talent.

The course will be open to anybody who wants to learn about acting, directing, writing, filming or production. The course is due to start in the Phoenix Theatre in Bark Street, Bolton, every Saturday afternoon for five weeks, starting on January 29, but places are limited.

It is open to all abilities from novice to experienced old hand. For more information or to book a place call Alex Bradley on 07906 573 523 or The Phoenix 01204 535861. Alternatively email happygoluckytheatre@yahoo.co.uk
