THE BBC has been forced to remove a logo from a Little Britain sketch about two projectile vomiting racists after a complaint from the Women's Institute.

In the award winning comedy series two characters named Judy and Maggie appear under a "WI" logo tasting jam at garden fetes. But whenever a person who is not white or homosexual is mentioned, they let out a stream of vomit.

The logo which is "similar" to the official logo of the Women"s Institute has now been cut from the show after the BBC received a letter from the organisation's solicitors.

A corporation spokesman said: "The complaint from the Women"s Institute was about the use of a logo which was similar to theirs. The letter mentions infringement of copyright. That's the only complaint they have made.

"The logo (which featured in the programme when it aired on BBC3) will now be cut before the show goes on BBC1.

"There will be no mention of the Women's Institute.

"The Judy and Maggie sketches will not be changed in any other way."

The BBC spokesman added: "The Little Britain characters are very much a pop at idiosyncracies. It has never been our intention to cause any offence or upset to members of the WI."

Last week Little Britain, scooped three gongs at the British Comedy Awards.
