THE sweet smell of success of the railways in attracting the highest number of customers since 1959 could go to the heads of some passengers.

The TransPennine Express company is bringing in scented seat headrests on their services which run into Manchester.

Passengers will be able to sit back and smell the aroma of citrus fruits. Vernon Barker, managing director of TransPennine Express, said: "We're confident that it will help create a favourable impression."
