TWO of the so-called 'big three' now out of the way and three valuable points to show, but how things would have been different if Liverpool's finishing had been anything less than clinical.

Wanderers dominated the play for long periods and were unlucky not to have come away with at least the point we deserved.

There's a growing feeling that we're a side not just snatching the odd goal to nick the match, but a side that is actually competing in terms of quality. We've always had the desire and perhaps the confidence but now we're seeing touches of genius from world renowned players in that famous white shirt.

Youri Djorkaeff again at his outstanding best and surely David Platt must have been impressed by the performance of Kevin Nolan after leaving him out of the recent under-21 match and then facing the barrage of deserved criticism.

The game itself had character, not least the home debut from Champions League winner Ivan Campo, we as fans need these characters and already the 28-year-old seems to be a favourite amongst the Wanderers faithful. His experience and commanding presence was there for all to see and it's people such as Campo that the likes of Danny Livesey and Jonathon Walters will learn a great deal from in the weeks ahead.

Livesey again impressed making an appearance at right-back and Jonathon Walters looks to be a handy striker to have in our squad.

Big Sam must now look for anything we can take from next weekend's game against Arsenal, the best team in the country at present.

Sam will have been disappointed at being on the wrong end of a thriller but it's still hard as a fan to feel too disappointed. We were the better team against a side with title ambitions, while personally, I'm still coming to terms with last Wednesday's victory at Old Trafford!
