LOFTY the Lion and Fred the Red are ready for the off ahead of Tuesday's exciting clash between Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United.

The two mascots -- each vital to their team's own preparations -- enjoy friendly rivalry on the pitch. And they are both looking forward to a return of the match which gave Bolton a memorable 2-1 win at Old Trafford early in the season.

Lofty and Fred will be willing their teams to victory tomorrow. But on May 5, they will be working together to raise charity cash at a unique event at the Reebok Stadium.

Dozens of mascots from all over the country will converge on Bolton for a record-breaking day of fun and competition for local families.

It will be supported by Bolton Wanderers and the BEN, to raise money for the Mayor of Bolton's Charity -- this year for Bolton Hospice and Christie Hospital, Manchester.

The BEN will be revealing all the details of Mascot Mania in the weeks to come.

But a full report of the Wanderers v United clash will appear in Wednesday's editions, in a special four-page pull-out that is definitely not to be missed.
