I SAW the incident from the North Stand and at no time did I see the man charging at the referee in an aggressive manner.

When the fan at the recent Birmingham v Aston Villa game ran on to the pitch before confronting Villa keeper Peter Enckleman, the Villa keeper, I agreed he should be banned for life for the safety of the game.

I personally think that a ban for one or two years would suffice in this case but a life ban is a disgrace.

Will this fan still be considered a risk when he is in his 60s?

When his children ask him why they cannot go to watch their local team with their father and his reply is because he ran onto the pitch 20 years ago, what image of Bolton Wanderers Football Club will this provide?

I am not saying what he did was right but to be punished for life is a sad reflection on the club.

It also gives an insight into what they think of the common fan, who pay hard their hard-earned money, week in week out, to watch their heroes.

I hope the club can review their punishment sentence on this life long supporter for the good of the club and the fans.
