WHO did what, and how they rated, by Richard Mulligan
(4-4-2)
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN...8
A fabulous performance in keeping out the threat of Rooney. He commanded the area, although dropped a couple of crosses.
SIMON CHARLTON...7
As usual did the simple things well, and a measured tackle on Rooney in the area saved the clean sheet.
ANTHONY BARNESS...7
No real attacking threat but had the measure of Gary Naysmith and then Mark Pembridge.
GUDNI BERGSSON...8
A commanding performance as he kept the lad two decades younger than himself in check with his pace, power and experience.
IVAN CAMPO...7
Had a few worries in the first half, but he adapted to the conditions and the tempo and later looked assured.
PER FRANDSEN...7
Sam keeps on singling him out for praise, he broke down everything Everton's midfield attempted.
KEVIN NOLAN...7
Never stopped running, was always chasing the ball and had a few good shots on target.
JAY JAY OKOCHA...6
Started well but faded for much of the game. He hit the crossbar which shows his influence even on his quieter days.
RICARDO GARDNER...7
Performed well as a creative force and worked in tandem with Frandsen and Nolan in tempering Everton.
HENRIK PEDERSEN...5
There were few scraps for him to feed on, and he struggled with a leg injury. As always full marks for effort but did not look like scoring.
MICHAEL RICKETTS...5
No real chance of adding to his recent tally. The forward had a neck injury and it was obviously affecting his game.
Subs: Stig Tofting (for Ricketts 60 mins, 7), Delroy Facey (for Pedersen 85 mins, 6). subs not used: Kevin Poole, Jonathan Walters, Danny Livesey.

MAN OF THE MATCH
JUSSI JAASKALEINEN - HE stood tall even at the moments when he was facing an onslaught from the Everton attack. A few handling errors proved to be irrelevant and it was he that earned the point.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
HOW could referee Gallagher book four Bolton players and only one from Everton. The Everton midfield like to throw their weight around and they should have been punished.
MAGIC MOMENT
MOST people had forgotten that Nigerian ace Jay Jay Okocha was playing, but he reappeared in the 77th minute to rattle the crossbar with a fantastic free kick from distance.
