NOT quite doom, but plenty of gloom, from ITV Sport's studio pundits, writes Chris Sudlow

Andy Townsend and Tony Dorigo used the opportunity of their visit to the Reebok to predict tough times ahead.

Well, most people knew that anyway.

Cheerful Townsend said: "If Sam keeps this team in the league, he'll have done well."

And Dorigo chipped in, after Allardyce's post-match comments to camera: "Reading between the lines you can tell what his priorities are.

"It's staying in the Premier league, not the Worthington Cup."

Townsend commented: "It was a great start, but they never capitalised. Bolton never really got going and penned Forest into their own half."

Even presenter Matt Smith could not resists a dig afterwards: "This was more Division One than Premiership in terms of quality."

There were some words of cheer, however.

Beaten manager Paul Hart praised Wanderers and his rival boss.

He said: "They are very well organised, and I really hope they do well.

"They are a similar club to ourselves. It gives us heart to see a small club doing well in the Premier Division."

Wanderers fans might not like to see their heroes labelled a small club, but at least Hart used the occasion for a bit of optimism, rather than the unoriginal verbal knocking from the others.
