FAN'S VIEW by Phil Topham

ANOTHER frustrating day at the office for the Wanderers who again struggled to convert superior possession into clear cut chances.

Just as the penalty miss against Sunderland was the turning point a fortnight ago, Jaaskelainen's sending off was the clear signal that it was going to be another disappointing Saturday afternoon.

The lads weren't helped by inadequate officiating in the first half, the opening goal was clearly offside from where I was sat and Paul Warhurst's booking seemed unnecessary. He didn't appear to say anything as he walked towards the linesman but was booked anyway.

All things considered, we were unlucky to be losing at half time. Lofty summed up my feelings, venting his anger at the officials much to the amusement of the North Stand!

So to the second half and the sending off. Sadly it wasn't even debatable. Jussi knows you can't handle the ball outside your area but unfortunately he chose to do it on the day we had no replacement 'keeper on the bench. Poor Bo Hansen had no chance between the sticks with any of the goals that followed but managed to make a couple of decent saves. There were some positives to take from the game.

Jermaine Johnson looks like a great prospect and will be a valuable asset when his final ball is more accurate. Paul Warhurst had a fantastic game and didn't deserve to be on the losing side. It was also good to see the Wanderers fans enjoying themselves despite the result.

Big Sam's singing stand was in full voice this weekend, the Reebok Roar was deafening in the second half. But deafening or not, Bolton will have to start picking up points at home or we are in for a long, hard winter.

Man of the Match: Paul Warhurst - a colossal presence.
