A CAMPAIGNER against forced marriages returned to her former school as guest of honour.

Narina Anwar MBE attended a presentation evening at Harper Green secondary school, where she told pupils of her sixonth ordeal.

Narina attended the Farnworth school between 1990 and 1995 and left with nine GCSEs.

She told the pupils, teachers and parents at the evening about her ordeal after leaving school, when she and her two sisters were taken to Pakistan against their will for arranged marriages. It took them six months to escape and return to England.

Narina now works with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in work on forced marriages and has been awarded an MBE.

She has also been hailed one of the bravest women in Britain by Best Magazine, and has been nominated for the Pride of Britain awards.

Headteacher Peter Jefferies also gave a speech in which he praised the 98 per cent of Year 11 pupils who passed their GCSEs and congratulated the Year 10 students who gained GCSE passes a year early.
