CONGRATULATIONS to Jo Gabler, she must be feeling very proud having managed to turn around a failing school like The Deane in just seven weeks.

No doubt we will all be very impressed next year when Ladybridge High achieves the significant increases in both the SATS and GCSE results.

What a pity, however, that nobody has felt it worth celebrating or even mentioning the results achieved by the previous Year Eleven students who not only have had to put up with major disruptions and difficulties throughout their time at The Deane School, but now it would seem it is better all round to just forget they ever existed.

This year the GCSE results were not published in the Bolton Evening News. No explanation has been given for this and, as yet, there seems to be no plans that I am aware of for a presentation evening to formally recognise the students achievements of their last year at The Deane School.

My son attended The Deane School and managed to achieve 11 A to C passes at GCSE level and is now taking four 'A' levels. He is by no means alone in his achievements, I know that many students achieved brilliant results which any school should have taken pride in, it is credit to them and the staff there at the time that they were able to do this.

I sincerely wish Jo Gabler, her staff and, most of all, the students at Ladybridge High the very best of luck, the students deserve to have the education they are entitled to.

It is good that the LEA is prepared to put money and resources into the school and, above all, their support, but please spare a thought for the students, the staff, and the past Governing Body who gave their very best to The Deane School, they at least deserve credit for their achievements and not to be constantly labelled as a failure.
