Wanderers fan Tracey Mounfield has painful memories of her latest visit to the Reebok Stadium.

Her team were winners . . . but she ended up very much the loser.

For when one of her heroes, Wanderers striker Kevin Davies, booted the ball heftily into the stands, Tracey just could not get out of the way.

And now she is nursing a broken wrist - and facing three weeks with a plaster-cast on her right arm.

She was sitting in her seat, two rows from the pitch, during Wanderers 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday when Kevin kicked the ball clear from the feet of an opponent.

"It's just one of those things," said Tracey, aged 31, of Blackrod. "I love the Wanderers and it won't put me off going.

"I couldn't really get out of the way of the ball because he hit it so hard. I put my hands up to try and stop it from hitting me in the face and I got the full force of it."

Tracey, who works for Direct Energy Purchasing in Churchgate, Bolton, braved the pain before she saw St John Ambulance first aiders at half-time, her wrist having swollen considerably.

Later doctors at the Royal Bolton Hospital told her that she had probably suffered a sprain, but an x-ray then revealed the fracture.

"I do a lot of typing in my job and this hasn't really helped me, but I'm managing to get by with just my left hand," she said.

"I've got respect for Wanderers strikers - but even more for goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen for getting in the way of the ball every day in training."
