A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a police officer from Bolton more than a decade ago.
At a brief hearing at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court in south-east London, Gary Nelson, aged 34, was accused of the murder of PC Patrick Dunne, aged 44, in Clapham, south London on October 20, 1993.
Nelson is also charged with murdering nightclub doorman Kwame Danso, aged 31, on the same day.
PC Dunne was killed by a single bullet to the chest shortly after Danso, a small-time drug dealer, was shot six times by an armed gang at his home.
Nelson was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on October 26.
PC Dunne had been a teacher for 15 years before he gave up his job as head of maths at The Deane School, Bolton, to join the Metropolitan police in London.
