Schools soccer: BURY U15s are out of the NUT Trophy after going down 2-1 to Tameside in their second round clash at the Derby School on Saturday.
Adam Edwards put Bury in front after 12 minutes, beating the keeper with a fine drive from the edge of the box.
Tameside equalised five minutes later and added their second on the half-hour mark to go into the break with a 2-1 lead.
The home side pressed forward in search of the equaliser after the break, but could not break down a resolute Tameside defence.
Bury U14s beat St Helens 5-3 in their challenge match on Merseyside.
Bisike Anyonwu equalised an early St Helens goal midway through the first half, but the Merseysiders led 2-1 at half-time.
Bury went into a 3-2 lead early in the second half with goals from Anyonwu and Billy Armstrong, before St Helens equalised.
But the visitors ran out comfortable winners thanks to goals from Leon Pickersgill and Alex Mallian.
Bolton U15s' NUT English Schools Trophy second round tie against Pendle at Sharples School was postponed.
