COCA-COLA Championship leaders Wigan will hope to follow up Saturday's victory at Plymouth by beating Crewe at the JJB Stadium on Tuesday night.
Summer signing David Wright is likely to be included in defence against his former club, with Nicky Eaden ruled out with a hamstring injury.
"We will have to be very near to our best to get the result we want from the game and extend our unbeaten start to the season," said Wigan manager Paul Jewell.
Crewe are likely to be without skipper Kenny Lunt due to a knee injury.
Second-placed Reading will have to break the equal-best defence in the division to have a chance of overtaking Wigan, with Leeds visiting the Madejski Stadium.
The other team in striking distance of the top, Ipswich, travel to Leicester to take on a side looking for their first win under the caretaker charge of Dave Bassett.
