VERNON Kay on Monday spoke of his joy after wife Tess Daly gave birth to a daughter at a London hospital.

TV and radio presenter and former model Vernon, aged 30, said he was "over the moon" at the birth of his first child Phoebe Elizabeth, who weighed in at 7lb 13oz.

The former pupil of St Joseph's RC High School, Horwich, said he and model wife Tess, who married last year in Horwich, now planned to look for a bigger home away from their West London flat.

"We are going to be busy looking for a house in the country with a large garden," he said.

"Unfortunately I won't be moving back to Bolton as I need to be near London for my work."

He did, however, confirm that one strong family connection with the town would be kept going.

"As a lifetime Bolton Wanderers fan, I will be making sure my little girl grows up a supporter," he added.

A spokesman for the BBC confirmed that "mother and baby are doing really well".
