DANISH-born Helle Larsen has been appointed as the first director of Manchester International Trade Centre.
She was team leader and principal consultant for Manchester-based Strategem Ltd, handling international trade development projects for clients including UK Trade & Investment, the Department for Trade and Industry and the North-west Development Agency.
She was involved in the training of commercial staff at British Embassies across Europe.
She has also been trade commissioner at the Trade Commission of Denmark in Manchester, where she was responsible for forging stronger business ties between the region and Denmark.
Helle will head a 33-strong team at the centre, based at Churchgate House, Oxford Road, Manchester.
The state-of-the-art centre, a partnership between UK Trade & Investment, Chamber Business Enterprises and Manchester Chamber, opened its doors for the first time in October last year to help all businesses in Greater Manchester develop their international trade.
