A SERIAL sex attacker who preys on girls as young as 11 may have struck a ninth time in Greater Manchester, police have said.

Detectives last week linked an indecent assault in February in Greater Manchester with a series of seven attacks on women and girls in the first five days of June.

Officers believe an attack on a 23-year-old woman close to Daveyhulme Street, Smallbridge, may have been carried out by the same man.

The woman was walking through an alley when she was grabbed from behind and assaulted by the man who she managed to fight off.

Detective Inspector Martin Jeffs, of Rochdale CID, repeated his warning to young women to avoid walking around the area whenever possible.

Police earlier released an E-fit of the attacker, who was white, aged about 19, and around 5ft 8ins.

He was slim with short, mousy brown hair, a spotty, pock-marked complexion and a ring or bar piercing in his right eyebrow.
