A WOMAN who smiled through years of ill-health and disability has died.
Great-grandmother Mavis Price refused to let the amputation of both legs and a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease to blight her life and she continued battling until her death -- last week -- at the age of 89.
The inspirational woman from Bromley Cross, who was featured in the Bolton Evening News to mark Mothering Sunday in March this year, took up driving at the age of 66, studied cake decorating at 70 and, although wheelchair-bound, enjoyed baking cakes, visiting the library and had annual holidays abroad with her daughters.
She believed there was always a new skill to learn and continued learning art and crafts well into her seventies.
The funeral service was held at St Ann's Church, Turton, last week.
