A TEAM of former Bolton Wanderers stars challenged a team representing Bolton Wanderers Disabled Supporters Association to a charity cricket match.

About 200 fans turned up to watch 1980s heroes such as Dave Sutton, Ian Seddon, Paul Jones and John Thomas try their hand with a bat at Bradshaw Cricket Club.

The disabled supporters won the 20-overs match with 155 runs -- 20 more than the footballers.

Star of the show for Wanderers was Paul Jones, who took three wickets with ten balls.

Early evening rain made way for brighter weather as the game got under way.

Dave Tattersall, a manager at the cricket club, said: "It was a marvellous turnout considering the poor weather and some of these boys showed they are just as handy with a cricket bat as they used to be on the football field."

The event raised £250 for the disabled supporters association.
