THOSE that know Trevor Bevin can vouch for the fact that he prefers to have his palm crossed with silver rather than gold or bronze.

Or in other words he would rather catch a net full of silver skimmers than a couple of gold or bronze carp, and in last week's Shore Top match he was in his element when he won the Timmis Cup with 19lbs-14ozs of skimmers caught on the tip with worm.

Mick Booth also fished tip but with red maggot, and his skimmer bag was enhanced by a carp to give him second place with 13lbs-0ozs.

A carp also came to the aid of Les Salmon who finished in third place with 8lbs-9ozs.

Others:- 4th. Frank Smalley 5lbs-10ozs, 5th. John Bailey 4lbs-4ozs, Alan Davies 3lbs-9ozs.

Booth has a

repeat win

MICK Booth was at the presentation table again after winning the Dixon Green Open on Tuesday, following his second place on Sunday on Shore Top.

The college lecturer took three bream and five skimmers on the tip with worm, to record 12lbs-6ozs.

Paul Sharples tried the pole with pellets, and his bits were enough to give him second place with 3lbs-1ozs. Mick Hargreaves was third with 2lbs-12ozs.
