STEPHEN Crow e-mailed to complain that the need for segregation was a sad reflection on the modern game:
"Last Saturday I organised a party of 10 to watch the Bolton-Everton game. Three of the party including a young boy were Everton supporters but we naturally sat together in the main stand just near the press box.
"When Everton scored the three fans were naturally pleased but they didn't express their pleasure in any provocative way. Immediately some of the Bolton supporters told them that they had no right to be where they were, they should have been behind the goal. They felt very intimidated and vowed never to visit the Reebok again. This was compounded by a very aggressive steward telling another Everton fan nearby that if he stood up again if Everton scored they should leave the ground. Is this official Bolton Wanderers policy?
"What a sad reflection on the modern game. There was a time when fans mingled together and part of the afternoon's entertainment was the friendly banter and woe betide anyone who used abusive language if women or children were near."
