His raw determination kept him going to the end when he got his reward.

IT only secured a point when three was what they were hoping for but, after Liverpool and Arsenal, it was sheer joy to get the benefit of a last-gasp equaliser.

MISSED chances cost them dear but Wanderers really did fall for the classic sucker punch when they let Bridge motor into the box for the Saints' goal.

5 mins: Niemi keeps out Djorkaeff's back post header after Ricketts tees up the Frenchman, heading Charlton's deep centre across the face of goal.

15 mins: Anders Svensson underlines the danger of the counter-attack, hitting a snapshot a yard wide of Jaaskelainen's goal.
