Wanderers fans had their moment of fame on SKY TV's popular Soccer AM show at the weekend.

Eight fans travelled down to London by first class train to star on the Saturday morning show.

They stayed overnight in a top hotel, all paid for by the television company, before appearing on the three-hour show.

The supporters were then chauffeur-driven in a limousine to Upton Park for the big game.

Lifelong Wanderers fan Peter Kellett said the gang, who all sit near each other in the east-lower stand at the Reebok Stadium, sent a photograph and details of themselves to the programme months ago, but were only contacted on Thursday.

The 43-year-old said: "It was a big surprise. We thought nothing would come of it.

"I missed my work's Christmas do, but I suppose it was a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Bromley Cross man Peter, who owns B & B Motors, in Westhoughton, said he had been looking forward to starring on Soccer AM.

The programme, presented by Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamberlain, takes an often humorous look at football over the past week.

The Wanderers fans took part in fun games, such as penalty shoot-outs. They also booed a model -- because she appeared wearing a Manchester United top.

Later, they managed to smash five penalties through the show's "iron curtain" in just a minute.

Father-of-two Peter said was confident Bolton would win at Upton Park. He said: "We are usually better away from home."
