Fan's View by Robert Holmes
WHEN Wayne Rooney turned Ivan Campo inside out and left him sitting on his backside, I feared the worst.
The Spanish defender's re-appearance in the side had me worried and left me somewhat disappointed, especially after the old stagers Bergsson and Whitlow had done so well against Newcastle.
Fortunately Campo got better as the game went on and by the end looked a much better defender, something he unfortuntely proved at the other end when he got in the way of a Stig Tofting effort that looked to be on its way to the target.
There's no escaping the fact that on this occasion we were lucky. Everton had all the play going forward and should have got something for their efforts, especially Rooney, who lived up to everything that has been said and written about him.
Yet we might have stolen it at the end when Okocha rattled the crossbar with a free kick.
Judging from the players' celebrations at the end, the draw could do wonders for our confidence. Let's hope things go as well against Villa on New Year's Day. Then we will have had a marvellous festive season.
