Wanderers 1 WEST BROM 1

WANDERERS 3-5-2

JUSSI JAASKELAINEN ...7

His second half save from danger man Roberts kept Wanderers in the game.

BRUNO N'GOTTY ... 5

Mr Riley had no doubts but others weren't quite so certain that he deserved to be sent off.

IVAN CAMPO ... 7

A complete liability in the first half, he was the launchpad of many of the second half attacks.

ANTHONY BARNESS ... 8

A much-needed calming influence at the heart of the defence; nothing ruffled him.

BERNARD MENDY ... 7

Positive and effective going forward but with more discipline at the back when needed.

PER FRANDSEN ... 6

Denied once by Hoult, he finally came up trumps with his late header.

JAY JAY OKOCHA ... 8

Not everything came off but he never stopped trying; he is warming to the Premiership.

GARETH FARRELLY ... 5

Lasted only 25 minutes before pulling out with a calf strain.

RICARDO GARDNER ... 7

Like Mendy on the right, he combined cover with creativity as Wanderers fought back.

YOURI DJORKAEFF ... 6

Did everything right but was denied the equaliser by Hoult's world class save.

DEAN HOLDSWORTH ... 5

Withdrawn at half time after failing to make an impact on his return to the starting 11.

Subs: Kevin Nolan (6) for Farrelly 25 mins, Michael Ricketts (6) for Holdsworth (h-t), Simon Charlton for Gardner (80 mins). Not used: Henrik Pedersen, Kevin Poole.

Man of the Match

JAY JAY OKOCHA

FEW players in the Premiership have the luxury of being given a free role but the Nigerian not only has the talent to carry it off but, on this showing, the determination and the energy. Not everything he tried came off but he never stopped trying.

Moan of the Match

SAM Allardyce was careful not to criticise Mr Riley for sending off N'Gotty until he had conducted his own detailed examination but he objected to referees' chief Philip Don's decision to appoint the Leeds official in the light of his Reebok 'history'.

Magic Moment

THE cross from Michael Ricketts was spot on, Youri Djorkaeff's anticipation could not have been better and the first-time volley was sweetly-struck. But, to Wanderers' dismay, Russell Hoult produced a truly world class save. A superb passage of play.
