DOMINIC Raby was first home for Chorley Harriers in the Paddy's Pole Fell Race near Chipping.

The tough 4.5-mile race with 1100m of climb did not deter Raby who finished with Malc Christie close on his heels.

Anna Maria Crabtree tackled this race for the first time and enjoyed a good battle with Nicola Raby, while Martin Quinn, in his first season for the Harriers, also did the club proud with an impressive time.

Malc Christie was also first home in the Pen y Ghent fell race held near Horton in Ribblesdale.

Once again Karl Pitt finished just two minutes behind Christie in 59 minutes.

In the Haigh Hall five-mile night series, the new three-lap course proved to be stiffer than the original route. Nevertheless Gareth Booth came home in seventh place in a time of 27 mins 56.

Dominic Raby and Mark Ellithorn, all finishing within seconds of each other, chased Booth all the way. Alan Alty's racing revival continues to pay dividends coming home in 16th place in 28 mins 55.

Martin Quinn had a good run and came home in 40th place in 30 mins 34.

Richard Yates, who has come up through the junior ranks and now competing with the seniors was delighted with his time 33 mins 10 in 83rd place.

Also first time out in a black and white vest was new recruit Jenny Wiseman finishing in 132nd place in a time of 37 mins11.

Shaun Collinson has also progressed from the juniors and finding his feet running in the senior events.

Eddie Pugh was the sole representative in the recent Lake Vyrnwy Marathon and finished in 4 hours 17.
