RUPERT Ladies A produced a superb second innings display, to clinch the GMB Charity Shield with a 232-136 victory over Darcy Lever A, on Sunday.

Only 14 runs separated the teams at the half way stage but the second half was a different story with Rupert adding 143 runs to Darcy's 61.

Bolton Motor Bodies maintained their 100 per cent record over Gemini. The joint Section F leaders won with an innings to spare. Their batting got off to a slow start with several players out for a duck, then Nancy McNeil (18), Vicky Berry (13), Kath Haslam (25) and Maxine Parkinson (37) turned the game around to win 120(1)-113.

Janet Grimes scored 46 runs to help Markland CTC overcome Horwich RMI which left them joint top of Section C.

Chamberlain Doors player Katie Clayton contributed 55 runs in a total of 122, when they defeated Bradford Road Youth Club (79).

Several teams recorded their first wins of the season. Heaton Ladies beat BRUFC 111(1)-50, Redgate defeated CSXI 131-79, Hanson won against Great Lever Ladies 126-88, and Anderton XI beat Ladies Taveners 142-120.

Friday sees the start of the Interleague matches against Bury when the Vets play at Little Lever CC, 7pm. Team: Pauline McMillan, Pat Gregory, Sylvia Sutton, Meg Eccles, Barbara Gillett, Diane Brough, Janet Aspinal, Carol Paisley, June Duckworth, Kath Chapman, Norma Jones.
