ONE of Manchester's biggest indie-rock events is coming to Bolton on Wednesday night - and local musicians have a chance to get in on the action.

The Great White Chocolate Debate will be pulling out the stops for a gig at the Life bar cafe in Nelson Square, and local musicians are invited to bring along their demo recordings for review in the NME national music magazine.

Three bands will be on hand at the night, which is held in association with Bolton's Inaudible fanzine, to offer a mix of indie-rock orientated entertainment.

The Maker, a group which played at last year's Glastonbury festival, will be supported by For Tomorrow and Bolton's own Mannekin John.

A DJ from national music weekly NME will also be there to provide entertainment between sets, and he will be accepting demos from Bolton's musical talent for review in the publication.

Bolton Council Arts and Information Support Officer Paul Dean, who helped to organise the night, said: "We have had gigs before at Life Bar, but nothing like this. It's a great chance to see the best of local live music in Bolton, and local bands could get their music reviewed at a national level."

Life Bar Cafe is now set to host the Great White Chocolate Debate each month.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £3 or £2 with a National Union of Students card.
