ONE of the North's most famous sons is being honoured with an exhibition marking his 100th birthday.
Comedian George Formby, who delighted fans for 40 years until his death in 1961, will be celebrated in an exhibition on Blackpool's North Pier.
The exhibition is to be opened by the Wigan-born funnyman's younger brother, Ted, who lives in Oxfordshire.
Fans believe it is fitting that the display, which runs until November, is taking place in Blackpool.
