RESIDENTS are being invited to take a trip down memory lane at a new exhibition at Farnworth Library.
A pilot project at New Bury Community Centre which captured elderly residents' memories about bygone times has been turned into a living history display.
Young people were trained in video techniques and interviewed older residents at Campbell House, the bowling group at New Bury Community Centre and Farnworth Veterans.
Artefacts were provided by Bolton Museum to stir memories and encourage the older people to talk about topics such as ration books, Kodak Brownie cameras, donkey stones, and stone hot water bottles.
The exhibition runs at the library until next Friday. It will then go on display at the Ucan Centre in Halliwell from May 31 to June 4, before returning to Farnworth Library until July 29.
Keith Davies, Bolton Council's deputy director of education and culture, said: "This is part of the Local Treasures Outreach project which is raising the profile of Bolton Museum and Art Gallery's collections and taking them out to the community.
"Some people involved have never visited our museums, but they now have the opportunity to enjoy some of the fascinating objects that we have."
The two-year project is funded through the North West Hub for Arts and Farnworth Inclusion Team. New Bury is the first area to enjoy the initiative.
Other areas set to benefit include Brazley, Hall i' th' Wood and Johnson Fold. In spring 2006, all the local projects will be brought together in a major exhibition at Bolton Museum.
