A GROUP of amateur footballers are taking on a team of rugby players at their own game.
This weekend, Sunday league team Sharples FC will be playing half a game of rugby and 45-minutes of football, against Lostock Rugby Union Club, to raise money for charity.
And while the rugby lads are certainly prepared for 45 minutes of drop kicks and knock ons, Sharples FC are hoping to hang onto their teeth and their limbs.
Will Cocker, manager of Sharples FC, said: "There will be about 15 members of the football team taking part, and about 16 of the rugby team. I think most of us are looking forward to it - a few members of the football team have even played rugby in the past.
The event will be held on Sunday, at Lostock's ground near Middlebrook, from 12 noon.
Jason said: "We thought it would be a great idea as it was for charity. I recently lost my dad and he was cared for by Bolton Hospice - it is a worthy cause.
"The rugby team are ready for Sunday and looking forward to it, but I'm not sure how we will do at the football."
