A SERIES of business successes has sparked a recruitment drive at Remploy Bolton, the electronic component manufacturer.

The Manchester Road company, which manufactures electronics for Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Solartron, currently employs 55 people.

But a recent investment of £750,000 in the Bolton firm by its parent company, Remploy UK, has paid dividends with increased orders from leading vehicle security systems producer Original Equipment Manufacturer.

It has also received increased orders from a producer of router systems for the major European telecoms providers.

The increase in orders has led Remploy Bolton to introduce a two-shift system to cope with demand and expand its workforce, as it expects to add £1m to its turnover, with output already increasing to more than 10 million component placements per week.

The company, which is part of the UK's largest employer of disabled people, is looking to employ electronic assembly operators, as well as a test/ manufacturing technician and a team leader for its surface mount assembly process.

Remploy chief executive Bob Warner is delighted with the success. He said: "Remploy Bolton is already a highly successful electronics operation, and a key factory in our 81-strong UK network.

"The site is very much at the forefront of the company's drive to create more jobs for disabled people through true commercial enterprise and we are now seeing the recent investment enabling the company to stay at the forefront of electronic technology."
